beautifully blended kitchens
Some kitchens need more than cabinet refacing but do not need to be completely removed and rebuilt.
A Beautifully Blended Kitchen combines suitable existing cabinetry with carefully planned new elements. Calgary Kitchen Restyling can reface what works, modify areas that need improvement and add new cabinetry where it will make the greatest difference.
The finished kitchen looks and functions as one complete design—not a collection of old and new pieces.
THE FREEDOM TO COMBINE SOLUTIONS
Kitchen renovation choices are often presented as either keeping the existing cabinets or replacing everything. A blended approach creates another possibility.
Your cabinet boxes may still be in good condition, even though the upper cabinets do not reach the ceiling, the island no longer works, an appliance needs to move or more storage is required.
Rather than allowing one problem area to determine the scope of the entire project, we can use different solutions in different parts of the kitchen.
WHAT CAN BE COMBINED?
A Beautifully Blended Kitchen may include:
REFACED ELEMENTS
• New doors and drawer fronts
• Coordinating finishes on existing cabinet boxes
• New panels, gables, hardware and mouldings
NEW CABINETRY
• Stacked upper cabinets
• A new island or pantry
• Replacement cabinets
• Appliance or beverage cabinetry
FUNCTIONAL AND FINISHING CHANGES
• Door-to-drawer conversions
• Storage accessories and appliance modifications
• New countertops, backsplash and lighting
• Coordinated plumbing, electrical and painting
The combination is selected based on what the kitchen needs, rather than fitting the project into one predetermined approach.

TAKE YOUR CABINETS TO NEW HEIGHTS
Many kitchens have upper cabinets that stop well below the ceiling, leaving unused space and making the cabinetry feel unfinished.
Calgary Kitchen Restyling can retain and reface suitable existing upper cabinets, then add a second row of new cabinets above them. Coordinating doors, finishes, panels and mouldings bring the two sections together.
Stacked cabinets can provide additional storage, make better use of the room’s height and give the kitchen a more substantial appearance. They can also incorporate glass doors, lighting or decorative display areas.
Ceiling height, existing cabinet dimensions and the condition of the ceiling must all be considered so the finished proportions feel balanced.

thoughtful and INTENTIONAL designs
Successfully blending cabinetry requires more than finding doors in a similar colour.
Door profiles, finishes, proportions, panels, mouldings and hardware all influence whether the finished kitchen feels cohesive. Where possible, retained and new cabinetry can use the same door style and coordinated exterior finish.
An intentional contrast may sometimes create a better result. Refaced perimeter cabinets could be paired with a new island in a natural wood finish, while a new pantry or beverage area could be designed as a complementary feature.
The goal is not always to make every element identical. It is to make the differences feel deliberate.
what to expect
PROJECT TIMELINE
Most Beautifully Blended Kitchen projects are completed within approximately two weeks of on-site work.
This includes many projects involving refacing, stacked upper cabinets, a new island or pantry, cabinet modifications and coordinated finishing details.
More extensive electrical, plumbing or structural changes may affect the timeline. We provide a project schedule before work begins.

common questions
IS THIS THE SAME AS A HYBRID KITCHEN?
Yes. “Hybrid kitchen” is an industry term for a renovation that combines existing and new cabinetry. Beautifully Blended Kitchens focuses on making that combination feel cohesive and intentionally designed.
CAN YOU EXTEND MY CABINETS TO THE CEILING?
In many kitchens, yes. Adding stacked cabinets above suitable existing upper cabinets is one of our most common blended-kitchen improvements.
CAN I REPLACE ONLY MY ISLAND?
Yes. An existing island can often be modified or replaced while the perimeter cabinetry is retained and refaced.
CAN APPLIANCE LOCATIONS BE CHANGED?
Sometimes. The possibilities depend on the layout, cabinet construction and required plumbing, electrical or ventilation work.
UNDERSTANDING THE INVESTMENT
The investment depends on the cabinetry being retained, the new elements being added, the selected materials and the other improvements included.
Our Projects page provides real examples of project scopes, finished kitchens and approximate investments.
